What Is Müzik Hackathon?

Müzik Hackathon is more than a music competition. It is a development programme where young musicians grow by creating together, gain real experience and build ties with the music world.

The bands selected for the final come together to write an original song from scratch in 42 hours, guided by the theme announced to them.

Every band works in its own production space, fully equipped with instruments and gear. Mentors — musicians, producers, arrangers and professionals from across the music industry — support each band throughout the process. A fully equipped rehearsal stage is also open to the bands so they can prepare their songs for the final performance.

At the end of the 42 hours, the new songs are performed live for the first time on final night and judged by a panel of industry experts.

For the winning bands, the journey does not stop there. Their songs go into professional recording and production: developed with well-known arrangers, producers and sound engineers, they pass through recording, arrangement, mixing and mastering, and reach listeners on digital music platforms.

Because the aim of Müzik Hackathon is not just to write a song in 42 hours. It is to support musicians before, during and long after — to help their work grow and to open the doors to the experience and opportunities that prepare them for the professional music world.

  1. Step 1

    APPLICATION

Sign up for the platform, create your band, add your bandmates to the system, upload your performance video and complete your application. We are not expecting a professional shoot or recording. What matters to us is your band's music, how you play together and your potential to create.

  2. Step 2

    SELECTION

The jury reviews every application and decides which bands will take part in the 42-hour production marathon.

  3. Step 3

    THE 42-HOUR MARATHON

The clock starts the moment the theme is revealed. For 42 hours you stay in the production space with your band, writing your song from scratch, working with mentors, sharpening your ideas and rehearsing for the final on a fully equipped stage.

  4. Step 4

    THE FINAL

After 42 hours, the stage is yours. Play your original song live for the first time, in front of the audience and the jury.

  5. Step 5

    STUDIO AND PRODUCTION

Winning bands enter a professional production process in partnership with Zuhal Müzik. The songs are developed with well-known arrangers, producers and expert teams, moving through recording, arrangement, mixing and mastering.

  6. Step 6

    RELEASE YOUR SONG

Keep going with the song that started in 42 hours. Bring your finished track to listeners on digital music platforms.

Professional Arrangement & Production

The 42 hours end, but the song's journey carries on. The songs of the winning bands at Müzik Hackathon go into professional production in partnership with Zuhal Müzik.

Bands record their work in Zuhal Müzik's professional studio in Istanbul, developing the songs with well-known arrangers, producers and sound engineers through arrangement, recording, mixing and mastering . With music industry professionals involved at every step, each recording also becomes a place to learn — where young musicians see professional working methods up close and pick up new knowledge and new perspectives.

The goal is to take the song to the next level while keeping the character of the idea that came out of the 42-hour marathon.

The final recordings are handed over to the bands and released to listeners on digital music platforms.
