What Is the Müzik Hackathon Platform?

Müzik Hackathon is more than a music competition. It is a development programme where young musicians create together, gain real experience and build ties with the wider music world.

The journey runs all year through workshops, webinars, meetups and other events, and it ends with an exciting, inspiring 42-hour creation marathon.

The Müzik Hackathon Platform is that whole structure, while Müzik Hackathon’26 is the platform’s biggest annual event, the 42-hour marathon.

Membership is free. With a single account you can join events all year long, submit your Müzik Hackathon application, connect with other musicians and follow opportunities picked just for you. That way you stay part of the programme the whole year, not only at the grand finale.

Müzik Hackathon

One Competition a Year

At the finale of the programme, teams come together to write an original song from scratch, non-stop across 42 hours, in line with the announced theme. Each team works in its own production space stocked with music equipment, gets support from mentors drawn from the industry, and gets its song ready for the final on a fully equipped rehearsal stage. When the 42 hours are up, the finished songs are performed live on final night. The winning songs then go into professional production with well-known arrangers and producers; after recording, arrangement, mixing and mastering, they reach listeners on digital platforms

All Year Round

Community

Great music usually starts when the right people find each other. On the platform you can discover other musicians, get in touch, put your band together, or meet people to work with on new projects. The Müzik Hackathon community is a meeting place where new collaborations and new music keep coming to life all year, well beyond the competition. Create your profile and join the community: meet new people and make room for new collaborations and new music.

Müzik Hackathon is more than a music competition. It is a development programme where young musicians create together, gain experience and build real ties with the music world. The journey runs all year with workshops, webinars, meetups and other events, and ends with an exciting, inspiring 42-hour creation marathon.

Who can join the Müzik Hackathon Platform?

Anyone who loves music, makes music or wants to grow in this field can join the platform. You might have a band or create on your own. You might be a vocalist, instrumentalist, DJ, producer, composer or songwriter. Wherever you are starting from, if music is your direction, you are in the right place.

What does platform membership give me?

Membership is free. With a single account you can join events held throughout the year, submit your Müzik Hackathon application, discover and connect with other musicians, and follow opportunities made just for you. Your membership makes you part of the Müzik Hackathon community all year long, not only for those 42 hours

I’m not a musician — can I still take part?

Yes. Most of the webinars, talks, workshops and other events are open to anyone who loves music and wants to develop their skills. To join the 42-hour Müzik Hackathon, though, you need to apply as part of a group.

Is there a fee to attend events?

No. The webinars, workshops, events and the 42-hour creation marathon held as part of Müzik Hackathon are all free to attend. Some events have limited capacity, so you need to register in advance through the platform

How is Genç Kültür Kart related to Müzik Hackathon?

Müzik Hackathon is the music-focused development programme of the Genç Kültür Kart programme, launched by Konya Büyükşehir Belediyesi. The terms for using Genç Kültür Kart's exclusive offers and privileges are set by Genç Kültür Kart's own membership criteria.

How do I join webinars and workshops?

You can follow upcoming webinars, workshops, masterclasses and other events in the “What's Next?” section of the platform. Just pick the event you like and register with your account. If an event has limited capacity or special entry conditions, the details are listed on that event's page.

What happens during the 42-hour creation marathon?

The bands selected for the programme spend 42 hours side by side in the same creative atmosphere, writing an original song from scratch around the announced theme. Each band works in a space prepared for them and stocked with music equipment. Along the way they meet mentors who are working industry professionals, and they get their performance ready for the final on a fully equipped rehearsal stage. At the end of the 42 hours, the songs are performed live for the first time on final night.

How can I apply to Müzik Hackathon?

Applications are made on behalf of a band. Upload your band details and performance video to complete your application. The jury reviews every application and selects the bands that will take part in the 42-hour creation marathon. For the current band size, dates and other application requirements, see the Hackathon’26 page and the application form

Does the application video have to be professional?

No. A clean phone recording that clearly shows the band members playing together and their performance is enough. What matters here is not the production quality of the video, but the band's music, playing and potential to create together

How are applications evaluated?

A jury reviews every application, looking at the group’s originality, performance and overall musical coherence. The groups that earn a place in the 42-hour production marathon are chosen through this evaluation

Can I take part from outside Konya?

Yes. You can join the online events from any city in Türkiye. The 42-hour Müzik Hackathon and some of the in-person events are held in Konya. Groups selected for the hackathon need to be in Konya for the whole programme. For the groups that make it to the final, Genç Kültür Kart covers intercity travel, accommodation and meals for the duration of the programme.

Do I need to bring my own instrument to the hackathon?

Throughout the event we provide working spaces, core music equipment and rehearsal facilities so bands can create. Even so, we recommend bringing your own instrument and any special gear the character of your music calls for.

Who are the mentors and how do they support the process?

Our mentors are musicians, producers, arrangers and professionals from many corners of the music industry. For 42 hours they act as a fresh pair of ears for each band, helping them develop their ideas, shape their songs and prepare for the final performance.

What happens at the end of the 42 hours?

At the end of the 42 hours, every band performs its original song live on final night. An expert jury evaluates the performances and the winning bands are announced. But the Müzik Hackathon story does not end on the final stage.

What awaits the winning bands after the final?

The winning bands' songs go into professional production in partnership with Zuhal Müzik. Bands record their work in a professional studio. The songs are developed with well-known arrangers, producers and expert teams, moving through arrangement, recording, mixing and mastering. The finished tracks then reach listeners on digital music platforms.

Who owns the rights to the song we create during the hackathon?

The economic and moral rights to the works created during the 42-hour process belong to the bands. For the communication and promotion of the event, the organizers may use performance recordings and footage shot during the event in line with the relevant terms and conditions.
